Experience

I went onto the mini pill after being advised to switch from my previous combined pill Gedarel due to headaches. After a couple of weeks of taking it I had continuous bleeding which wouldn’t stop for about 2 months of using so I ended up stopping taking this, my doctor advised me to carry on as the side effects may improve after 3 months but I couldn’t deal with them. I also experienced a lot of nausea and tender breasts at the start but this was probably my body getting used to the new hormones. This pill also made my acne re-appear after years of having it under control on the combined pill. I’ve now asked to go back onto Gedarel as I found this worked a lot better for me. I would like to try the copper coil eventually but I’m scared of having it put in!

Experience after taking

I feel so much better after stopping taking the mini pill, my periods returned to a normal cycle after 2 – 3 months and I felt myself again. My skin also cleared up and I felt like my moods were a lot more stable.
