Experience

I gained so much weight whilst on depo, and no matter how hard I tried to lose it, the weight just would not shift, in fact I just gained even more. This added to the depressive episodes I was already suffering from being on depo, where I was withdrawing from everyone around me, I was feeling overly sensitive and emotional all of the time, and for the first time ever turned to comfort eating as a way of altering my emotions (which only added to my weight gain!).

Experience after taking

After my first missed depo appointment (taken every three months) it took a further 6 months for my periods to start up again, although they were very irregular – maybe 1 period every 3 months. After 18 months my periods had returned to normality, and in fact seemed to be every more regular than they had been pre-depo, and I was FINALLY able to lose weight! My periods were also a lot lighter, and lot shorter in length- usually bleeding for only 3 days, requiring only regular, light or very light tampons.
