Experience

I used this contraceptive as I didn’t mind having to pop back to the doctors every 12 weeks. However, after roughly having it for a year, the 12 week gap between injections was needed every 10 weeks and then every 8 weeks because towards the end of the injection period I was becoming increasingly agitated and highly emotional. I would cry at the smallest of things. I had no weight gain, my skin was nice and clear, my hair was healthy. I wasn’t briefed about the osteoporosis risks, but wish I was. I also didn’t like the fact that it can take up to 12-18 months to completely leave the system and this can prolong your efforts in having a baby. Had I have not gotten into a relationship and it didn’t make me emotional I probably would still be on it. Not good for me but could be great for someone else.

It’s hard to establish any changes after I stopped this contraceptive as I went on to have the implant put in.
