Experience

Don’t take this! I was advised to due to needing but not being able to have a hysterectomy. I was having very heavy bleeding due to endometriosis and the peri menopause and the depo shot was supposed to help. It didn’t, I feel like I lost my personality, I had absolutely no sex drive and the bleeding got worse. My husband also started an affair and left myself and my children.

Experience after taking

If you take depo provera, which I strongly urge you not to: do not take it for more than 2 years as there’s an increased chance of bone thinning osteoporosis. I was advised to take it by my GP for another 2 years, ( I think they make money out of it). Stopping taking it was the best thing I ever did. I gained a stone whilst on it for the 2 years, which gradually went over a year. My sex drive probably took another year and a half to come back. My hair has taken much longer to return to normal, it became very thin on the shot.
