Experience

I have had 3 contraceptive implants in the past 10 years. 1 was between my 2 children allowing me not to worry about accidents until I was ready for baby number 2. When we decided to conceive again – after the implant had run it’s course and was removed – I conceived within 3 months. I had another implant after the birth of my second child and have just had it replaced. I don’t have periods when using the contraceptive implant. However, when I failed to get my second one removed when it had ran out. I found my periods came back irregularly and lasted up to 3 weeks! My own fault, I know but I just didn’t get around to getting it sorted! In the past I have only had one implanted or removed and the procedure has been straight forward and the soreness went after a couple of days – as long as I didn’t knock it. The last time I had one removed and one implanted. I found this much more painful and the bruising and soreness lasted over a week and was still sore, if caught for over 2 weeks. Overall, I am happy with the protection it gives and the freedom I get from not having to worry about contraception for 3 years.
