As a worrier, I’ve tended to blame anything going on in my body to the implant. I’m aware of it almost all the time, and get occasional pain in the arm it’s in. I don’t like putting pressure or leaning on that arm. I’ve had three consultations with different GPs with the side effects and they all said essentially ‘give it more time’ and did not give me the option of getting it taken out, even though that’s what I had asked for initially at the appointment. Now, since covid, the access to GP services to get it removed is none existent. I’m on a long waiting list – and that’s only after I was told I’d have to have a consultation first before they would agree to do it. There’s a foreign body in my arm and I have wanted it out for a long time, but I keep getting patted on the head and told to be quiet. I’m a healthcare professional in my own job, I know my own body, and that the implant has proven to be not right for me. Does it work? Yes, but that’s hardly the point. I would advise people who are unsure to try a method more easily reversible first.
