Experience

Ive been on Nexplanon since November 2019 (17 months) and I had a bit of a difficult start but it works perfect now. I was on the pill previously and I was getting fed up of taking a pill every day. So I decided to go on Nexplanon. The procedure of inserting it into my arm was sore for about a week and had some bruising. After about 3 months of insertion, I was getting occasional aches in my arm from where the implant is. Between 3 – 8 months I was having extreme irregular periods, which I found frustrating. It was light periods and I would have one for 3 days one time or I would have a period for 1.5/2 weeks. It kept doing this for about 5 months. I tried going on a mini pill as well to stop them but that enhanced mood swings (I have an emotional disregulation mental disorder), and made the situation worse. Between 8 – 10 months, my periods had calmed down and they eventually completely stopped, however I started getting mild acne (which is manageable) and from 10 – 17 (now) months, im absolutely happy with my implant with no issues, I get a period once in a blue moon which is quite normal I think. Overall, the implant is a great method of contraception, however it did take a while for my body to get used to, but now that I am used to it I love it and wouldn’t want anything else. This is just my experience.
