Having it put in was uncomfortable and that night, trying to sleep once the anaesthetic wore off was difficult. I had it removed after nearly two years because of highly irregular periods – I was on my period at one point for over 9 weeks. Having it removed was fine, very quick and not as bad as having it put in. It did negatively impact my mood, I gained weight, my breasts were swollen and tender all the time. Apart from the convenience of not having to take a pill every day, there were no positives for me. Also, after coming off, my weight dropped back to normal but I also experienced hair loss/thinning.

Experience after taking

I knew I made the right decision when my periods returned to normal straight away. I lost the weight I gained, my skin cleared up, I only experience breast tenderness around my period now. My sex drive improved massively, and so did my mood, I was more myself than I’d felt in a long time. The only issue I’ve experienced is hair loss since having it removed, which is devastating and they should tell you it’s a potential side effect beforehand! I had super thick hair, and it’s so thin and limp now :( happened in the 4 months after having it removed.
