Experience

I was promised this was the solution to all my problems (Heavy, irregular bleeding, terrible cramps, etc). Not only it didn’t work, but made these worse and caused more negative side effects. Also, I was told the procedures of inserting and removing it would be simple, painless and quick. Inserting it was painful but bearable. Getting it removed has turned into a nightmarish mission. My GP could not find the coil. I was referred for a scan and an appointment with a gynaecologist. Weeks later, the consultant was also unable to remove it and I was told this would have to be done via histeroscopy. Since my case is not considered urgent, I’ve now been on a waiting list for the procedure for 3 months and have been told it will be at least a couple more months before I’m seen. This means I’ll have to wait over 6 months between my initial appointment to get this coil, who is making me unwell, removed and the actual – invasive – procedure to get it done. Never again will I agree to any contraception that is not under my control. Wouldn’t recommend it to anyone.
