Experience

Worst year of my life. Insertion was unpleasant but not terrible, I had a bit of cramping after but nothing a hot water bottle couldn’t soothe. My problems were far from over though. Every month my period was unbearable, my cramps were so bad they felt like contractions (what I imagine they would feel like) and would leave me bed bound for 2-3 days. Sex was painful, so no wonder it’s 99% effective as you just don’t want to have sex in the first place. My sex drive was basically non existent. I suffered from constant infections such as bv and UTIs I got a 4cm ovarian cyst within the first month of having it. My hair was thinning and I gained so much weight (lockdown did not help) I had horrible mood swings, back pain and headaches. Once it was removed I did suffer with ‘The Mirena Crash’. Moods were just all over the place and I found myself crying for no reason. But now I feel so much better. I know a few people it has worked for but for me it was just awful.

Experience after taking

My hair growing back was the first positive change I noticed. It took a long time for my sex drive to come back and for sex to not hurt anymore (I’ve had pelvic exams and there was no physical reason for it so it must have been psychological) I’m no longer in crippling pain with my periods even if they are heavier it doesn’t bother me.
