Experience

The insertion of the coil is extremely painful, for some reason it’s not general practice to use pain relief. It is likened to feeling a tiny bit like labour because it’s the pain of the cervix opening a fraction. I had awful cramps and continuous bleeding for about a month straight, then it was just really bad around my period. I would get a twinge of pain most days though, this lasted about a year and is from it settling. Since then I’ve had no issues. I don’t think I would get it again though because of the pain. Apparently the pain is less if you’ve already had a baby so maybe I’ll try again then.
