I had the more a coil fitted as I am allergic to oestrogen and the progesterone pills were not stopping my three days of debilitating pain. I went to the gyno, one said I might had endo so recommended this instead. To note 2 1/2 years ago I was on no contraception for 5 years so it’s only because of pain I take contraception. The insertion was a painful cramp but nothing different to normal period cramps. All my friends made me panic beforehand. It was afterward for me that was worse, I was in bed all night with cramping. Unfortunately my cramping got less painful but was still not great… I had very painful cramping everyday for about 6 weeks to the point I was constantly taking ibuprofen. I burnt my skin with a heat pad to try and reduce pain. It was Mentally and physically draining to be in constant pain. I also had nausea for a week alongside. I even had to sleep on my back as sleeping on my side made the cramping worse. My mental health deteriorated due to the pain, lots of crying. Sex drive was low mainly just due to constant cramping. I was also just very tired all the time. After 6 weeks the cramping was less and I slowly came off medication. I still got unexpected random cramping on and off but a bit more manageable where I could at least do things. Now nearly four months in it’s started to settle down and the cramps are less. Nausea is on and off. I still sleep on my back just in case but sleeping on my side more now. It’s been a full week without cramps, so hopefully I can get to a full month without any but we will see! Really hoping it’ll work for me but it’s still early just seeing the positive now.
