Experience

I was on Microgynon and decided to get the coil as I was told that the hormones were ‘localised’ and therefore not coursing through my whole body (which was something I didn’t like the idea of… Insertion was painful but could have been worse (two very long and intense cramps when they measure my uterus and when the coil went in – n.b. I had never experienced cramps before so possibly was just not used to it?) and then was tender for a few days, spotting here and there and then no more periods after maybe 2 months. 7 months later I started getting cystic acne. Since then I have been on two antibiotics (2 months then 4). Nothing changed until the end of the second lot. For two weeks my skin was clear and then bam! it came back, with a vengeance. I’m getting the coil removed today and have been on Rigevidon for a week today (skin has gotten marginally worse with this cocktail). Absolutely praying the removal will help as I never had skin issues before (the odd, harmless zit)… Having 0 periods has been a luxury but it’s not worth the loss of confidence, depression, discomfort that acne has brought me.
