Experience

After being on various pills for most of my life I decided to try the Mirena IUS, mainly for the ease of just letting it do its thing without having to consciously think about it/ remembering to take a daily pill & being sold a dream of a no period life. Unfortunately I was one of the unlucky ones and my periods actually became longer & heavier, I had a good 6 months of sporadic heavy bleeding and excruciating sciatic pains in my lower back & thighs. This did ease up slightly around 8 months in but then came the rest of symptoms… the brain fog, extreme tiredness, the lowest of low moods & although not as bad as before the cramps still remained. Not to mentioned noticeable increase in discharge, and what felt like a constant battle between thrush & BV on a regular basis. I kept the Mirena for just over 1.5years but in the end the low moods were becoming a real struggle for me to managed so I decided to have it removed. Currently awaiting an appointment to have the Jaydess put in & hoping this version of the IUS agrees with me better. Fingers crossed.
