Experience

Yes, the insertion part was sore but it was only for a very short time. For me, the benefits far outweighed the 5 minutes of pain. So much so that I after my first one was due for expiry, I got it removed and a replacement fitted. I was plagued with years of very heavy periods (filled a heavy flow night pad in 2 hours) and within 3 months of having the Mirena, I was using the lightest flow pads. It was a blessing for me!

Experience after taking

My cycle continued as normal after the removal of the Mirena. The only downside is that they have become heavier but not anything like they were pre-Mirena. I did notice a return of classic PMS (tiredness, breast tenderness, skin break outs & irritability) 2-3 days before my period arrived. I fell pregnant 8 months after removal (unfortunately miscarried) and 4 months later (year in total) awaiting a successful pregnancy.
