I got my Mirena inserted a little over two years ago. I was bleeding every day for the first month, usually a light/medium flow. Then, my periods stopped completely for 8 months, only to come back again. At first, I would start getting my periods every five weeks, then every three. It was very irregular for a while, though I did go a few big life changes (moving to a new country, looking for a new job, etc.) which likely had a big impact on my stress levels. I also was vegetarian/vegan for a little while and felt that my energy levels were a little bit low, perhaps due to an iron deficiency. I feel that overall, Mirena has been pretty decent – I like not having to think about taking a pill each day, though I am still wary of the possible long-term side-effects of this form of contraception. I also started getting really bad breast pain 7-10 days before my period (my breasts feel very tender, heavy, and fuller, and exercise is very uncomfortable even though I am a small B-cup).
