Experience

I suffered with hormone induced depression when I started to use the Mirena which lasted about six months. I realised this was the reason as I had felt this way when taking progesterone based medication to stop bleeding after a miscarriage. I was prescribed anti-depressants which helped. For me, if the Mirena had not worked then I would have needed a hysterectomy due to abnormally heavy and frequent periods. Eventually everything settled down and I had two Mirena coils in eight years until I reached menopause.

Experience after taking

I was relieved that I had got to menopause and no more periods! I did not depend on the Mirena for contraception as I had been sterilised at my request following two difficult pregnancies.
