Insertion itself was fine, but the cramps that came immediately (10m) after were hell. I had to take the following day off work. Cramps continued regularly the first 6 months and I was extremely worried there must have been something wrong. I had an appointment with the nurse who tried to look, but said the string had disappeared, so I would need a scan to tell if it was still in place or if the string had simply ridden up which is normal. I had the scan which showed it was still in place, and the lady informed me the worse thing that could happen is I fall pregnant, that the implant physically CAN’T damage my insides if it moves (something I’d been petrified of). Now I only get the awful cramps just before my period. They’re not exactly cramps, I call them coil pains as they’re more shooting pains down to my vagina, and it comes in waves of agony. I don’t know if this is “normal” as I’ve not come across other people reporting such pains. But for now the pros seem to still outweigh the negatives as the majority of the time I’m pain free.
