I switched to Jaydess 7 months ago from the combined pill (which I had always been happy with but couldn’t attend pill checks anymore due to my work patterns). Having it placed was really quite painful. I really thought all the stories I had read online were exaggerated but found they mostly weren’t. I would say have some pain relief before and LA if it is offered! Then pain was bad all evening but gone by the morning. I’m glad I had someone to drive me home after it was fitted as I felt a bit faint. I wouldn’t say I’ve had any side effects other than my periods have lessened a lot. I don’t get one every month but when I do it is always at the same time. I do, however, get very bad cramps around my period (whether I bleed or not). My Dr prescribed me mefenamic acid for this and it takes it off straight away. The threads are not always easy to find and sometimes I freak out when I can’t find them straight away! Overall I’ve had a good experience. The cramps I get are manageable. I love not having to remember my pill and I’m getting used to not always having a period. I will have it replaced after 3 years as I think the insertion was bad but doesn’t outweigh the positives.
