Experience

I love my Skyla IUD. I had to get an ultrasound to get mine placed because my uterus is small and retroflexed (the top points towards my toes). My gynecologist prescribed painkillers and muscle relaxers for insertion, which didn’t hurt at all during the procedure, but was awful for 6-12 hours afterward. Luckily, the pain did not persist. My gyn also prescribed for me to continue taking my combined hormonal pill for the first month to help with breakthrough bleeding. It did help, and my periods have stopped since then, barring some occasional spotting. I feel much more confident using this form of birth control because of the high effectiveness. I also used to have really painful periods, and this has certainly helped with that. I will get occasional cramping kind of randomly (my cycle was never very regular before), but other than that, no complaints!
