It’s really hard to weigh out this one. I’ve tried the patch, vaginal ring, 3 different types of pill until deciding to get the IUD because I just couldn’t hack hormonal bc anymore. However I don’t think it’s truly as flawless as it may initially sound. I thought it would be perfect due to no hormones, i have struggled on and off with bad skin and found my body to be very sensitive to bc in general (suffered with mood swings very badly whilst on hormonal bc) so this sounded ideal if I was able to get through the insertion. Insertion itself wasnt pleasant but also not unbareable, the real pain came straight after when the cramps kicked in and for a few hours I was in such an uncomfortable pain. That subsided the next day and my period returned normally the next month. However, after month 2 I noticed that I my mood had plummeted often and I was so so fatigued and a bit anxious every now and then. I was also very sensitive and cried at very little things. My skin started to get a little bad again too. I have decided to get it removed after just over 3 months as I just feel like it is affecting my body negatively despite not having hormones. I think the excess copper has just had an impact on my already very sensitive body. I really wanted this to be the ideal birth control but it unfortunately just isn’t the one for my sensitive body :(
