Experience

Don’t let them lie to you – it IS hormonal. Just because it doesn’t release hormones into your system directly, your body responds to foreign objects in the uterus through hormone release so it really heavily impacted my hormone imbalance, which completely counteracted why I wanted to use it in the first place. I found it painful and my period were the heaviest and most painful they’ve ever been. HOWEVER, it was very nice not having to think daily about my contraception and to be able to have sex freely. It did lower my sex drive as I was in pain most months but it was better than the pill for me.

Experience after taking

I felt much better after I took it out. I actually got rid of it because my partner knocked it during sex!!!! It was soooo painful. The nurse told me it didn’t do any damage and it could stay in but after that I was so traumatised it had to go!
