Experience

I had the coil fitted just before lockdown in February. The insertion was honestly horrific, there was so much blood and the pain was so so bad, like really intense period cramps. The insertion process, despite the nurses being really lovely was really invasive and uncomfortable. I went for the copper IUD as it has no hormones and I have major side effects on the pill. Unfortunately 6 weeks later, after going back and forth to hospital I had an internal scan which showed it had migrated to my womb lining (muscle) causing me horrendous pain all month round. It took 6 months to get it taken out eventually in hospital under sedation. Horrendous experience but I think my case is quite rare
