I love it! No hormones was a lifesaver for me! Previously I tried 5 types of combined and non combined pills over a few years and also the patch. I got every side effect possible. I was sick off work due to mood swings, nausea, tenderness, and swelling of my legs. I had no sex drive and didn’t want to do anything with my partner for months. I even went to A&E once as I was so concerned over the swelling. I tried lighter doses but my body just didn’t like the hormones. I was desperate and didn’t want to rely on only condoms. So I tried the copper coil. Yes it’s painful but the pain is only when they insert it so only lasts for seconds. You can do it it’s okay and it’ll last you for 10 years! Yes I had heavier periods and cramps as a result (and they were already heavy). On my heavy flow day I can feel weak but I make sure to keep drinking and eating and take care of myself. Ibuprofen works well. Yes I have more discharge all month but if I wear a thin pantyliner that’s fine. But I never have mood swings, no acne, no nausea. I have a sex drive again. I feel normal and I don’t have to set alarms for the pill. I can actually live my life properly and still practise safe sex. And for that I’m so happy with the coil.
