I had the copper IUD in 2016, I’d had no children, the fitting was awful and I could feel it, and was in pain all the time. So I had it removed 6 months later. I fell pregnant within 2 months of having it removed and In 2017 I had a baby, and was told I should go on the pill after a few weeks so as to avoid another pregnancy so close. I was on the mini pill for around 9 months and it was hell for me. So I decided to try the copper IUD again as it was the only option for no hormones. The fitting was hardly painful this time, just like a smear test. And no pain. However my periods are very heavy, and the pain 3 days prior and during my period can be excruciating. Have had to have days off work because of it. But I found it miles better than the pill, so am sticking with it for now.
