Experience

I was taking Yasmin when I was 17/18 because I have heavy periods and painful cramps. I was also taking it to improve hormonal chest and back acne (I had been taking Oxytetracycline pills for a few years to improve my acne and my skin had improved, but still wasn’t great). Advantages: + My skin dramatically improved and really cleared up! + My periods became lighter and very regular. + Period cramps were better (just a dull ache rather than feeling like being clawed inside). + No overall effect on my mood (I was taking another combined pill Microgynon prior to this and that gave me extreme depression/suicidal thoughts). My mood was very stable on Yasmin. + No change to my weight, no problems with discharge or sweating. Disadvantages: – Sex drive decreased (but this was worth it for my skin). – Nausea/feeling sick for the first couple of weeks of taking it. This also happened when I stopped taking Yasmin for a month and tried to go back on it. I stopped taking Yasmin because I went to college, I wasn’t a teenager so I’d grown out of my acne and I was worried about the risk of blood clots so didn’t want to be on the pill for a long time.
