Experience

I tried two different combined pills before Yasmin – Microgynon made me feel really, really low, then my doctor switched me to Cilest which was better but I felt bloated all the time. Then I tried Yasmin, and it worked really well for me! My acne cleared up, my periods got lighter, and most importantly, my mood felt level, which was really good as my moods fluctuated heavily before. Then two years ago, I tried to come off Yasmin. My acne became much, much worse than it had been even as a teenager – I developed cystic acne down my cheeks along with general acne all over my face. It was red and sore. My moods also became volatile – multiple times a day I’d cycle between sadness, recklessness and extreme happiness. I didn’t feel very mentally stable, so I went back on Yasmin after four months. I’m now looking to switch to a lower-dose pill so that when I eventually do fully come off contraception, I won’t have to deal with the intense acne and mood swings again.
