Experience

After having 2 children in my late 30s my monthly cycle was really bothering me and affecting my ability to be a good mum. My premenstral week each cycle was wrecked by low energy, low motivation, low self esteem and banging headaches that left me laying on the floor with my two small boys climbing on me wondering why mummy was being so useless. We don’t want to have any more children so I decided to go on the pill to try to even things out a bit. In order to break the monthly cycle I take the pills in a pattern where I take 3 packets back to back without a break, then have a break for 3 days and then start taking the pills again. I am currently on my third type of pill and I’m quite happy with it. The second pill I tried was Marvelon/Gedarel (ethinylestradiol, desogestrel). I felt more emotionally connected and positive. But I had inflamed/achy joints and lower back, poor pelvic floor/bladder control. I was hungry all the time with massive chocolate cravings but still lost weight. The third day of break I had headaches that were bearable with paracetamol.
