I’m currently on my 3rd packet of Gedarel. I started taking it on the first day of a period, as advised when prescribed. Since then I have had near constant bleeding. In 7 weeks (49 days) of taking it continuously with no breaks, I have had bleeding on 34 of those days, including the initial period. It is a light bleed compared with my normal periods, i.e. only pantyliners required, no sanitary towels or tampons. I have been really emotional since taking this pill. I get upset very easily and feel quite teary. I have also been a bit more moody and grumpy than usual. I feel like I’m not enjoying life/experiences, similar to how I felt when I have struggled with mental health in the past. I have also had a few anxiety attacks which I have not had for many years. My boobs have been sore and tender, and have definitely swollen or grown – I get a “double-boob” effect in my bras which was not there before, even though my weight has not changed. I have been feeling nauseous almost every day while on this pill. It hasn’t affected my appetite very much because I feel sick before, during and after eating – there is no change based on what or when I eat. I have been bent over a toilet several times, but I have not once actually vomited. I am also feeling very tired, leading to me falling asleep on the sofa when I get home from work. I have had lower back pain and diarrhea accompanying the breakthrough bleeding, which I do sometimes feel when I get a normal period (when not on the pill). I am persevering with this pill in the hope that it all settles down after the magical “3 month” threshold.
