Experience

I used Trigestrel/Triphasil, a tri-phasic combined hormonal contraceptive pill with varying doses of oestradiol (30-40) and levonogestrel (50-125) for about a year when I was 23 years old. It is available free of charge from government clinics in my country. I experienced two noticeable effects of this pill apart from it’s intended contraceptive effect. Firstly it had a small positive effect on the mild depression I was experiencing at the time – I think this was due to this pill’s triphasic nature. Secondly it very quickly resulted in my breasts enlarging quite a bit, creating discomfort and consistently very tender and sore breasts with occasional movable lumps from hormonal activity in the breast tissue – as result of the high dose of oestradiol.
